KEN DRYDEN, SERGE SAVARD AND...

As you know, there was one game only within 1972 summit Team Canada faced Czechoslovakia. Probably, this is a reason were are not too many photos from this game around the Globe.

This one I published today is one of them. Ken Dryden and Serge Savard are trying to stop Czech forward while ref Rudolf Bata is watching the game. But who is this Czech player? Can you name him?

Click on photo to get it enlarge.

THE NEXT PHOTO is for you, TOMMY.

It's not big deal to identify Vladimir Martinec on this photo. Can you name two Swedes?

  2. No Tommy,
Look at the net. This net is unique. It gives you the year of the World Champ (actually 2 champs)from which this photo is, and from where...I cannot give you the year, it would be too easy...

  3. But how is it about the first photo?

  5. The first picture is a bit tricky when it comes to the goaltender. It is clearly not Holmqvist, Abrahamsson or Löfqvist. It can only be Gunnar Bäckman who had a cup of coffee with the national team. He had very dark hair, so it must be him. The young Martinec and "Lill-Strimma" Svedberg suggests it is from Stockholm, 1969 or 1970, think it is 1970 as Martinec didn't play in 1969 (neither did Bäckman)

  8. David,
Unique is additional metal bars-suporters on the rear side of the net.
Look at the first photo - there is one bar only.
Now look at the second photo - you can see 2 of them (actually, there are 3). It makes easy recognize WC 69 or 70 due it's unique for Stockholm late60s-early70s...
